Devan's Baptism
Sunday, November 19th 2006 Devan was baptised. She came to me last year and told me she had prayed in front of her class and asked Jesus into her heart. She was so happy and proud. A few weeks ago she told me that she hadn't been sure that he really was in her heart so she asked him in again and that this time she really knows he is there. She went on to say that she wanted to be baptised because Jesus wants us to do that as a symbol of him coming into heart and cleansing you of your sins and becoming the lord of your life (all of this is her words). I asked her what baptism meant to her and she said "The preacher puts you under the water to represent Jesus dying for us and brings you back up to represent him being raised from the dead. It's a outward symbol of being washed clean of our sins. The water doesn't really wash you clean of your sins, it's just a symbol. Jesus washes us clean of our sins when he comes into our hearts".
Again these are all her words. I was so blown away at her understanding I think I'll go to her when I'm feeling weak and unsure!!! Of coure we were very eager to get her baptised and met with preacher and went over some reading he wanted us to do with her. She was excited and ready to go. It was a proud day for us all but I must say I think she was the proudest of all. She really loves the Lord!! Glory be to God!!!
......And Jesus said "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these". Matthew 19:14
I know these pictures are blurry but there all we have for now. They had a photographer back in the baptismal so hopefully I be able to scan those in.

Wow, Devan! Angels rejoiced at your decision! Congratulations!
Hi, Sweetheart! I'm so proud of you! I wish I could have been there in person so I could have given you a great big hug! What you said about getting Baptised is so right. Your pictures reminded me of when I got Baptised when I was just a few years older than you. You'll always remember that day.
