Our First Stitches!!

We had quite a traumatic Monday this week. Reid fell full force into the arm of the futon and put a great big gaping gash in his forehead. As mom is panicking and blood is flowing he begins to wretch like he's going to throw up. I know this is a bad sign so in the car we go to the ER. As I'm driving I notice he has stopped crying and his eyes are drifting like he's going to sleep. I pulled into the fire station and they called for an Ambulance. A few times in the Ambulance his eyes began to drift and the paramedic kept snapping her finger in his face and calling his name to keep him awake.I am now in full panic ,this it, he's bleeding in the brain mode!!! We get to the ER and they put a numbing patch on his fore head and wrap it up like a mummy. After doing this twice they came in an put his arms in a pillow Case behind his back and wrap him in a sheet like a mummy. Four people hold him down and two hold his head. The had to flush out the wound with this hug syringe with a suction cup on the end that they put over the wound and push the water out. He is nub but the cold water in going all over his face and hair so the screaming was unbearable ( he screamed a little too). He had to have stitches on the inside and then the outside it was so deep. While the Doctor is stitching him she said she felt a defect in the bone underneath and was going to need a CAT scan. This is when I fell into my own lap hysterical because now I was sure he was bleeding into the brain. We go up to the CAT scan. Rodney had to lay on him and they put the lead blankets over them He had to keep Reid's Head still by holing his chin and talking to him. He was a pro!! Reid didn't budge. They said every thing looked OK But we were not able to leave until they answered every question I could possibly think of... you know.... what if this, could there be this, could you have missed this. I'm sure I was very loved by all there. Any how six days later he is doing fine. Rodney says I'm still recovering. I'm not sure I can take 18,20,30......however many more years of this!

Here Reid is before his bandage change today.
Here he is during!!

And this is my little angel afterwards!!

Oh, Reid! I bet that really hurt! I'm SO glad it all turned out OK, and that neither you nor your mom ever lost consciousness!

I bet you forget all about it soon---or at least LONG before your mom does!! :)

It sounds like it ended up hurting YOU much more than him!!! Hopefully, it will be his only trip to the ER for stitches or anything else!!!
